Redland High School for Girls, Independent school and Grade II* listed building in Bristol, England.
Redland High School for Girls was an independent school in Bristol housed within a Grade II* listed building complex. The site comprised several interconnected structures containing classrooms, offices, and educational facilities spread across the historic grounds.
The school was founded in 1882 with backing from activists including Agnes Beddoe and the Sturge sisters. It operated until merging with Red Maids' School in 2016 and subsequently closed in 2017.
The institution maintained four distinct houses named after trees - Maple, Chestnut, Willow, and Rowan - fostering student engagement through academic and sporting competitions.
The buildings are no longer directly accessible to the public as they have been converted into residential apartments and a wellness center. Visitors can view the exterior architecture and grounds from outside to appreciate the site's historical character and setting.
The main building dates to the 18th century and was originally built as a private mansion. This structure was later repurposed as a school and continues to define the appearance of the site today.
