Princess Theatre, Regional theatre in Torquay, England
The Princess Theatre is a performance venue on Torbay Road in Torquay, with seating for around 1,500 people. It hosts touring productions and national performers across a range of genres throughout the year.
The theatre opened on 7 June 1961, with Tommy Cooper and the duo Morecambe & Wise performing on opening night. It has remained the main entertainment venue in the region ever since.
The theatre hosts musicals, comedy nights, dance performances, concerts, and shows for children throughout the year, drawing both touring artists and local groups.
The building has step-free access via ramps and lifts, with wheelchair spaces in the seating area and the main foyer. First-time visitors will find it easily along Torbay Road, within sight of the seafront.
Local amateur groups such as TOADS Stage Musical Company and TOPS Musical Productions perform here on a regular basis. They share the programme with touring companies from across the country, giving the venue a mix of professional and community talent.
