Rua Reidh Lighthouse, Coastal lighthouse in Wester Ross, Scotland.
Rua Reidh Lighthouse is a white cylindrical tower marking the entrance to Loch Ewe in the Scottish Highlands. The structure features a balcony and lantern room constructed from stone masonry.
David Alan Stevenson designed the tower, with construction beginning in 1908. It entered service in 1912 to guide ships through the waters of northwest Scotland.
The name comes from Gaelic meaning flat stone, reflecting the rugged coastal landscape around it. Visitors notice this connection to local language and geography throughout the site.
Access is via a private track that requires about an hour of walking. The property now operates as a guesthouse offering accommodation for visitors.
The original Fresnel lens and fog siren are on display at Gairloch Heritage Museum down the coast. Marine wildlife including whales, dolphins, and sea eagles frequent the waters here throughout the year.
