Ruskin Square, Mixed-use development in Croydon, United Kingdom
Ruskin Square is a nine-acre development next to East Croydon railway station with offices, homes, and public plazas. The site combines modern towers with different levels of pedestrian pathways and open areas.
The site began its transformation in 2016 when the first commercial building was completed. This marked a turning point in how the city was being renewed and developed.
The name honors John Ruskin, a Victorian art critic and social thinker, and the square creates public spaces where people gather for events and local markets.
The plaza is directly accessible from the railway station, making it easy to arrive by train. The different levels and pathways are clearly marked and easy to navigate on foot.
The most distinctive feature is the steel lattice structure covering the outside of One Ruskin Square, giving the building an unusual industrial look. The large windows offer wide views across London toward distant landmarks.
