Rothesay Academy

Rothesay Academy is a school in a Victorian building expanded in 1910 and 1938, positioned on elevated ground overlooking Rothesay Bay. The campus is now shared with the primary school and Argyll College.

The school was founded in 1870 and replaced earlier educational facilities before moving to a new building in 1959. The relocation followed a fire in 1954 that damaged the original structure.

The building shapes Rothesay's appearance and has served generations as a center for learning on the Isle of Bute. Visitors notice the classical architecture that defines the area and shows how important schools are to local identity.
