Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery, Kinetic art gallery in Merchant City, Glasgow, Scotland.
Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery displays mechanical sculptures crafted from recycled materials that move in synchronized patterns accompanied by light and music. The installations combine carved figures, industrial parts, and old machinery into complex moving compositions that tell specific stories.
Eduard Bersudsky founded the gallery in St. Petersburg in 1989 and relocated it to Glasgow in 1996 due to changing political circumstances. The collection grew as new works were added, continuing the artist's creative vision across continents.
The space brings together craftsmanship and storytelling, using moving mechanical figures to explore themes of human life and labor. Visitors watch everyday and unexpected scenes come to life through coordinated motion and lighting.
Two different performances are offered, each lasting around 45 minutes, with age recommendations to suit different visitors. Planning ahead helps ensure the best experience and minimizes waiting time.
Each sculpture integrates a network of carved figures and industrial parts to perform detailed movement sequences. This technical precision allows every figure to play its own role within a larger narrative.
