Soar Y Mynydd Chapel, Calvinist Methodist chapel in Llanddewi Brefi, Wales

Soar Y Mynydd is a chapel built from local rubble stone with a whitewashed exterior and a traditional rectangular slate roof standing near the Camddwr river. The structure includes an adjoining two-story stone house that forms part of the complex.

The chapel was built in 1822 by Ebenezer Richards, a minister from Tregaron, to serve scattered farming communities across the mountains. It was created when such rural prayer houses were vital gathering places for isolated settlements in the region.

The interior features a painted scroll from 1911 above the pulpit displaying the Welsh message 'God is love', showing how faith traditions were expressed in this community.

The building sits at an elevation of 301 meters in hilly terrain and provides parking spaces as well as restroom facilities for visitors. The site accommodates cyclists and those traveling with dogs.

From its founding through the 1940s, the building served as a schoolhouse for the surrounding farms alongside its role as a place of worship. This reveals how such structures served as community centers beyond their primary purpose.
