St Stephen's Chapel, Medieval chapel in Palace of Westminster, United Kingdom
The two-story chapel features a main upper level for royal use and a lower crypt known as St Mary Undercroft with stone vaulting.
Between 1547 and 1834, the chapel served as the primary meeting chamber for the House of Commons of England and Great Britain.
The chapel influenced the modern British Parliament layout, with the Speaker's chair position corresponding to the former altar steps location.
The crypt chapel remains accessible for weddings of children of peers and christenings for Members of Parliament and peers.
Emily Davison, a women's suffragist, spent the night before the 1911 census in a broom cupboard within the crypt.
