St Uny's Church, Lelant

St Uny's Church is a granite church in Lelant with a Norman entrance arch and decorated slate memorials displayed on its walls. The tower was incorporated into the nave during later renovation work.

The church was founded in 1101 and gained its present size when a center aisle and south aisle were added in the early 1400s. The building had to contend with sand encroachment over the centuries, which shaped the community's relationship with its surroundings.

The church holds two slate memorials from the 1600s positioned near the Norman font, which visitors can see today. These monuments reflect local craftsmanship and remember families who belonged to this community across generations.

Access to the main areas is level and straightforward for most visitors. Parking is available nearby, and accessible toilet facilities are provided.

The east-facing window was designed by MC Farrar Bell in 1973 and is nationally recognized as an architectural achievement. This modern work sits in fascinating contrast with the building's medieval past.
