St Wilfrid's Church, Grappenhall

St Wilfrid's Church features red sandstone walls, a slate roof, and a three-stage west tower containing a Tudor west door entrance point.

The church foundations date to 1150, with significant rebuilding in 1529 using local sandstone to construct a new nave, chancel, and north aisle.

Eight bells ring from the tower, with several originating from Henry Bagley II in the 1700s and others cast in the late nineteenth century.

The church welcomes visitors daily from 9 am to 4 pm and broadcasts live services every Sunday morning at 10 am through online platforms.

A relief sculpture of a cat on the church tower might have influenced Lewis Carroll in creating the Cheshire Cat character.
