Sterns Nightclub

Sterns Nightclub was a three-level dance venue located in Highdown Towers on Highdown Hill in Worthing. The building featured separate rooms dedicated to different electronic music genres, allowing visitors to move between different soundscapes and dance styles throughout the night.

The club opened in 1990 during a period of rapid growth in UK rave culture and electronic music popularity. It operated until 1994, when the space was repurposed and became known as The Mansion House.

The venue served as a gathering place for electronic music enthusiasts and attracted followers from across the region to experience different dance music styles. Each floor offered its own musical identity, creating separate communities within the same building.

The venue operated primarily during evening and night hours with regular monthly events. The location on a hillside made it visible from various parts of the town and the venue had capacity for several hundred people.

On particularly crowded nights, an unusual phenomenon called Sterns Rain occurred when condensation and moisture dripped from the ceiling. This feature became a memorable part of the experience for those who attended during peak hours.
