Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery, Art gallery and museum in Stirling, Scotland
The Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery contains three gallery spaces, a lecture theatre, and exhibits over 40,000 objects reflecting local heritage.
Founded in 1874 through the bequest of artist Thomas Stuart Smith, the museum received land from the burgh of Stirling for its establishment.
The Stirling Story gallery section presents artifacts from prehistoric times through the Wars of Independence, including items connected to William Wallace.
Located on Dumbarton Road, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Sundays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The museum collection includes what researchers consider the oldest football in existence, with potential connections to Mary Queen of Scots.
