Telford Town Park, Local nature reserve and park in Telford, England.
Telford Town Park is a local nature reserve and public park located in the heart of Telford, in the county of Shropshire, England. The site covers a wide area of open meadows, woodland paths, fishing pools, and several play areas for children.
The park was created in the 1970s as part of the planned development of Telford, a new town built to house workers from across the West Midlands region. Green space was built into the town's design from the start, and the park grew alongside the surrounding neighborhoods.
The park is where many Telford families spend weekends, picnicking on the grass or walking along the paths that wind through open fields. The Chelsea Gardens and Maxwell Garden are popular spots where people slow down and take in the seasonal planting.
The park has several entry points around its perimeter, so it is easy to reach from different parts of town on foot or by bike. A visitor center near one of the main entrances has toilets, a snack bar, and parking nearby.
Parts of the park sit on land that was once used for industry linked to the nearby Ironbridge area, one of the early centers of the Industrial Revolution in England. Some of the gentle mounds and earthworks visible along the paths are remnants of that earlier activity.
