Intu Derby, indoor shopping centre in Derby, England
Derbion is a large shopping center with three floors located in the heart of Derby, housing over 150 brands across clothing, beauty, and lifestyle categories. The complex includes restaurants, a food court with diverse dining options, a cinema with 12 screens, a bowling alley, and a mini golf course nearby.
The center opened in 1975 as the Eagle Centre, built on the site of earlier homes and streets that were demolished for development. It has undergone several ownership and name changes over the decades, becoming Westfield Derby, then Intu Derby, and finally Derbion since 2021.
The center is a meeting place where local residents and visitors gather to shop, relax, and spend time together. It has become woven into the city's daily rhythm as a space where people combine shopping with socializing and entertainment.
The center is centrally located with easy access from public transportation and parking for thousands of cars near the main bus and train stations. Opening hours extend across early morning to late evening on weekdays and weekends, providing flexible visiting options for different schedules.
A fire in the parking lot in 2010 led to evacuation and the implementation of enhanced safety measures throughout the facility. The adjoining Eagle Market, once the largest indoor market in the country, remained connected until its closure in 2023 for redevelopment.
