Wellington Country Park

Wellington Country Park is a 350-acre recreation area in Hampshire featuring multiple adventure play zones, sandpits, and slides distributed across natural landscapes. A miniature railway runs through the grounds, connecting different sections while passing through woodland areas.

The grounds were established in 1974 by the Eighth Duke and Duchess of Wellington as part of their broader development of the Wellington Estate. Creating this recreation space reflected their vision to open the estate for wider public enjoyment.

The miniature railway carries names connected to the Wellington family through forested sections of the grounds. This personal touch links private history with the public experience visitors enjoy today.

The park is most accessible during the warmer months from February through October, with most facilities well connected by footpaths. Visitors should plan for variable weather, as the grounds can experience different conditions depending on the time of day.

The grounds offer four distinct nature trails, including paths around a 35-acre lake where visitors can observe red and fallow deer in their natural habitat. These wildlife viewing opportunities make a visit memorable beyond just the play areas.
