Wigfair Hall, Grade II* listed country house in Cefnmeiriadog, Wales.
Wigfair Hall is a country house built in an elevated position above the River Elwy using red Ruabon brick on a limestone plinth with sandstone decorative elements. The structure combines residential spaces with practical outbuildings typical of large Victorian estates.
The house was designed and built between 1882 and 1884 by Chester architect John Douglas for Reverend R. H. Howard. Its construction marked the expansion of wealthy estates in the region during the height of Victorian architectural development.
The interior showcases Victorian-era craftsmanship through polished oak woodwork that decorates the walls and gallery spaces. These details reflect the taste and skill valued by wealthy residents of that period.
The building now operates as a private wedding venue and is accessible from Junction 27 on the A55. Visitors should note that the grounds are reserved for exclusive events and require advance planning.
A distinctive tower rises from the west wing and originally served the dual purpose of water storage and power generation. This tower with its pyramidal roof remains one of the most recognizable features of the property.
