Wallington Hall

Wallington Hall is a country house in Wallington Demesne in England, managed by the National Trust. The central hall is decorated with large-scale murals depicting historical scenes from the Northumberland region, while various rooms display furnishings and art collections spanning several centuries.

The house was built in the 18th century for Sir Walter Blackett and features classical Italian architecture. The estate later passed to the Trevelyon family before coming under the care of the National Trust.

The house displays personal possessions from former residents, including historical dollhouses and writing desks of notable writers. These collections tell the story of different lifestyles and habits across English life through the centuries.

The estate sits west of Morpeth near local villages and encompasses extensive gardens with lakes and wooded areas. Comfortable footwear is recommended, as exploring the grounds and various sections involves considerable walking.

The ceilings feature elaborate plasterwork created by an Italian artisan that showcases 18th-century craftsmanship. This decorative style was exceptionally labor-intensive for the period and often goes unnoticed by visitors.
