Windsor House, Office skyscraper in Bedford Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland
Windsor House is an office building with 23 floors on Bedford Street in Belfast, reaching a height of 80 meters. The structure is distinctive for its prominent green elevator shaft and unique side wall facade.
The building suffered damage from an IRA bombing in 1992 and changed hands several times afterward. In 2015 it was sold to Hastings Hotel Group, which later transformed it into the Grand Central Hotel.
The building shows Belfast's shift from an industrial city to a modern tourism destination, with its conversion to the Grand Central Hotel in 2018 reflecting this new direction. The architecture itself signals this change to visitors walking through the area.
The building now houses a 304-room hotel while maintaining office space on its upper floors. Its location on Bedford Street makes it easy to find and centrally positioned for visitors exploring the city.
The building was Northern Ireland's tallest for many years until Obel Tower was constructed and took that title. This former landmark status still defines its place in the city's skyline today.
