North Leith Parish Church, Category A listed church building in Madeira Street, Edinburgh, Scotland
North Leith Parish Church is a neoclassical church building located on Madeira Street in Leith. Its front features a portico with four Ionic columns, while a slender spire crowns the clock tower at the roofline.
William Burn designed and completed this building in 1816 as a place of worship for a large congregation. A pipe organ was added in 1880, and after damage during World War II, repairs continued until 1950.
The church hosts regular services and community gatherings throughout the year. Its stained glass windows created by J Ballantine and Sons reflect the artistic traditions of the Victorian era and draw visitors interested in decorative craftsmanship.
The building sits in a central location within Leith and is straightforward to reach on foot. Check ahead for service times and community events to confirm when the interior is accessible to visitors.
The building originally held around 1300 worshippers, making it one of Leith's larger church spaces. In 2024, the congregation merged with South Leith Parish Church, bringing together two historic communities under one leadership.
