Doune Hill

Doune Hill is a 734 meter summit in the Luss Hills featuring a trig point at its peak. The mountain sits between two major lochs and commands extensive views across the surrounding landscape from the top.

The mountain has served as a geographic reference point between the two major lochs since the earliest mapping of Scotland. Its position made it an important landmark in a strategically significant area.

Local shepherds maintain traditional grazing practices on the mountain slopes, where sheep roam freely across the grasslands throughout the seasons.

The ascent from the village of Luss follows a popular round route passing through open terrain and grassland. The path is straightforward to follow, but weather can change quickly, so layered clothing is advisable.

The mountain presents a remarkable prominence of 695 meters, making it one of the most notable peaks in the Argyll and Bute region.
