Wayside Folk Museum, Folk museum in Zennor, Cornwall.
The Wayside Folk Museum was a local museum in Zennor housing over 5,000 objects arranged across sixteen display areas. The collection featured waterwheels, agricultural tools, and household items from different periods that documented everyday life in Cornwall.
The museum was founded in 1937 and preserved local heritage until 2015 through collections spanning from 3000 BC to the early 20th century. The holdings reflected the long history of human settlement and economic activity across the region.
The museum displayed replicas of traditional domestic and working spaces, such as a miller's cottage kitchen, parlor, mill house, and blacksmith workshop from the 18th century. Visitors could step into these recreated rooms to understand how people actually lived and worked in those times.
The museum was located roughly four miles west of St Ives along the coastal road toward Land's End and was easy to reach by car. It operated seasonally from April through October with regular daily hours, so visitors should plan their trips accordingly.
Visitors were able to touch and handle numerous household items and historical tools directly, rather than viewing them behind glass. This hands-on experience provided a more immediate connection to the objects and how they were actually used in the past.
