Gnome Reserve, Garden attraction in West Putford, England
The Gnome Reserve is a garden covering four acres of countryside featuring wildflower meadows, wooded sections, streams, and ponds. The landscape combines open grassy areas with forested parts and various water features throughout.
Ann Atkin, a former art student, founded this garden in 1979 and created a collection that gained recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records. The project grew over the following decades into its current form.
The garden displays more than 2,000 gnomes and pixie figures placed throughout the landscape in imaginative scenes. These figurines shape how visitors move through and experience the space.
The reserve operates from March through October and visitors receive complimentary gnome hats and fishing rods upon arrival. These items allow visitors to explore and photograph the grounds freely during their visit.
The grounds contain 250 labeled species of wildflowers, herbs, grasses, and ferns integrated among the thousands of gnome figures. This botanical diversity often goes unnoticed as visitors focus on the figurines.
