Museum of Childhood, Childhood heritage museum on Royal Mile, Edinburgh, Scotland
The Museum of Childhood exhibits over 60,000 items including dolls, teddy bears, toy soldiers, games, and clothing from the 18th century to present day.
Established in 1955 by Patrick Murray, an Edinburgh Councillor, this institution became the first museum worldwide dedicated to preserving childhood memories and toys.
The museum collection contains a 1740 Queen Anne doll and a teddy bear brought by a child during the Kindertransport, representing different periods of social history.
Located at 42 High Street, the museum opens Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00 with free admission.
The museum features a miniature dollhouse containing 21 rooms and 2,000 objects, including a complete lighting and plumbing system.
