Bache Hall, Grade II listed country house in Bache, England.
Bache Hall is a two-storey red brick mansion featuring classical details such as Doric pilasters and round arches across its facade. A stone porch and two bow windows on the southwest front showcase the formal design typical of its period and status.
The original building was damaged when Parliamentary troops occupied the site during the English Civil War siege in the 1640s. The current structure was rebuilt in 1720 to replace what had been destroyed.
The building reflects how English country houses adapted over time to serve different communities and purposes. Its transformation from private residence to student accommodation shows how such structures remain relevant to local life today.
Access inside is limited since the building serves as student housing for the University of Chester. The best way to appreciate the structure is from outside, where you can see the architectural details of the facade and stone porch clearly.
This is the only listed building in the civil parish of Bache, giving it special status in the local landscape. Before becoming student housing, it served as a clubhouse for a golf club, an unusual chapter for such a grand residence.
