Six Hills

Six Hills is an archaeological site with several earthworks and ancient burial mounds positioned near the former Roman Fosse Way in Leicestershire. The mounds form a distinct group of raised earth features visible across the flat landscape.

The site dates from pre-Roman times and sits beside a major Roman trade route that connected distant settlements. In the 1800s the mounds were first recorded as an important historical location.

The mounds show burial practices of early British communities that are still visible in their shape today. They reveal how people who lived here centuries ago used this place for their dead.

The site is easy to reach on foot and sits in open grassland where you can view the mounds from different angles. Parking is available nearby, and sturdy footwear is helpful since the ground can become muddy after rain.

The site consists of six mounds arranged in a line that may have formed a single burial monument together. This unusual grouping makes it a rare example of burial design from that ancient period.
