The church opened its doors in 1838 and remained under the administration of Benedictine monks from Ampleforth Abbey until 2012.
The interior contains a west gallery supported by iron columns and a chancel with a reredos displaying a large Crucifixion painting.
Located on Aigburth Road, the Grade II listed building closed for regular services in 2015, with St Francis of Assisi Church nearby.
