St Cuthbert's Church

St Cuthbert's Church is an Anglican church in Darwen built from yellow sandstone with pink bands, featuring a slate roof and a rectangular tower with clock faces on all sides. The building combines sturdy construction with decorative details that reflect Victorian church design.

The building was designed by the architectural firm Sharpe, Paley and Austin, with construction stretching from the late 1800s through the early 1900s. The western tower was added in the final phase, showing how the project grew in stages over several decades.

Inside, visitors can see stained glass windows made by Morris & Co, including a war memorial and depictions of Saints Chad and Cuthbert created by Shrigley and Hunt. These artworks show how the community expressed its faith and commemorated those who died through beautiful craftsmanship.
