St Patrick's Barracks, Military barracks in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
St Patrick's Barracks is a military installation in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, featuring mid-twentieth century buildings arranged across grounds designed for training, accommodation, and operations. The site has since been redeveloped and transformed into residential areas.
The facility opened in 1937 as a depot for the Royal Ulster Rifles and later hosted United States Army operations during World War II. Multiple Irish regiments subsequently occupied the site until its closure in 2008.
The site contained the Imjin River Memorial, commemorating Irish troops who died in the Korean War, before its relocation to Belfast City Hall.
The former barracks site is now a residential area accessible by foot or car via new roads connecting Broughshane Road and Larne Road. Keep in mind that much of the area is private property.
The barracks once housed a memorial to Irish soldiers who died in the Korean War, with the monument later relocated to Belfast City Hall. This connection reflects how the site played a role in a distant conflict.
