Pen Museum, Industrial heritage museum in Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, England
The Pen Museum displays extensive collections of steel pen nibs, manufacturing equipment, and tools used in Birmingham's pen production industry throughout the centuries.
During the Victorian era, Birmingham's 129 pen manufacturing companies controlled three-quarters of global steel pen production, employing 8,000 workers, mainly women.
The museum presents the evolution of writing instruments through exhibitions of vintage typewriters, traditional quills, and steel nibs that influenced literacy worldwide.
Located in the Argent Centre at 60 Frederick Street, the museum operates Thursday through Sunday, with adult admission priced at £7.95 and children at £3.95.
Visitors can manufacture their own steel pen nibs using original 19th-century machinery that female workers operated during the industrial revolution.
