Dymchurch Martello Tower, Military museum in Dymchurch, England
The circular defensive tower stands three stories tall with thick brick walls, featuring a cannon platform on its flat roof.
Built in 1805 during the Napoleonic Wars, this fortification was part of a chain of 74 towers protecting the English coast from French invasion.
The museum displays military artifacts and educational materials explaining the defensive strategies employed during the early 19th century British coastal protection.
The tower opens to visitors on weekends and public holidays from Easter through October, with access through a metal staircase to different levels.
A 24-pounder cannon sits on the gun platform, demonstrating the exact type of artillery used when the tower operated as a military fortification.
