Parish Church of St Mary, Anglican church in Redbourn, England
The Parish Church of St Mary is an Anglican place of worship with a west tower, wide nave, and multiple extensions including side aisles, a chancel, and chapel areas. The interior is lit by clerestory windows that bring extra light from above.
The building was founded around 1100 and gained a north side aisle about 40 years later. A larger chancel was added roughly 200 years after that, and by the mid-1400s, southern sections were added, giving the structure its present-day shape.
The east window features designs connected to London and Munich, commemorating a clergyman from the 1800s. These colored glass panels shape how light fills the interior and draw attention upward.
The building opens on multiple days throughout the week for different services, offering visitors chances to attend regular gatherings. It is wise to check exact opening times beforehand to make sure you can enter when you visit.
The pipe organ was built in 1888 by a renowned English organ maker and has undergone multiple restorations to keep it functional over the decades. The most recent overhaul happened in the early 2000s, breathing new life into this long-standing musical instrument.
