Bourne Mill, Historical watermill in Colchester, England

The mill structure stands near a millpond with a functioning waterwheel, surrounded by wetlands and woodland areas along Bourne Road in Essex.

Built in 1591 as a fishing lodge, the building transformed into a fulling mill in 1640 and later operated as a corn mill until the 1930s.

The National Trust maintains this Grade I listed building, offering guided tours that demonstrate traditional milling processes and local industrial heritage.

The ground floor provides accessibility for visitors, with dedicated blue badge parking spaces and a small shop selling second-hand books near the entrance.

The mill incorporates architectural elements from the former St John's Abbey, featuring distinct Dutch-influenced gable ends and original Tudor period chimneys.
