Church of St Michael and All Angels, Religious building in Bedford Park, London

The Church of St Michael and All Angels is an Anglican church in Bedford Park, in the London Borough of Hounslow, built in the Queen Anne style. It has a tower visible from the surrounding streets and stained glass windows that filter warm light into the interior.

Richard Norman Shaw designed the church in 1887, at a time when Bedford Park was taking shape as one of England's first planned residential neighborhoods. The building later received a Grade II* listing, which places it among structures considered particularly important to England's architectural record.

Bedford Park was built for artists and writers, and the church at its center has always reflected that community's character. Services and events here tend to draw people with a connection to the neighborhood's creative history, which gives the place a particular feeling that sets it apart from a typical parish church.

It is worth checking ahead of your visit whether a service or community event is scheduled, as access may be limited at those times. The church sits within the residential streets of Bedford Park and is easy to reach on foot from the surrounding area.

Bedford Park is considered one of the earliest garden suburbs in England, and this church was planned from the start as a central part of that vision. Shaw deliberately avoided a Gothic design and chose a style more in keeping with the domestic architecture of the surrounding streets, which was an unusual choice for a church at the time.
