St Joseph's Convent, Grade II* listed religious building in Taunton, England

The main structure consists of a symmetrical three-storey red brick building with yellow additions, Gothic chapel, and a tall two-stage bell tower.

Frederick North, British Prime Minister, laid the foundation stone in 1772 for what was intended to be a free hospital for local residents.

The Franciscan nuns who purchased the building in 1807 expanded the complex to include dormitories, an infirmary, and staff accommodations.

The building underwent a transformation in 2005, converting from its religious function into residential apartments while maintaining its protected status.

The convent features an eastern chapel window with distinctive triangular shapes and traceried oculi, alongside Victorian Gothic cloisters with pointed arches.
