Mulberry Hall, Grade II* listed building on Stonegate, York, England
Mulberry Hall is a three-storey timber-framed house on Stonegate with projecting floors and small-pane windows. The building displays elaborate wooden fassade details and currently operates as a Christmas shop.
The building was constructed in 1434 and received its third floor in 1574. These changes show how it adapted to new needs over roughly 140 years.
The rooms show craftsmanship typical of medieval houses in York. The carved wooden details and decorated fireplace surrounds reflect the skill of artisans from that era.
The building sits directly on busy Stonegate and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors can view the facade from the street and explore the shop inside.
The first floor contains an original fireplace overmantel with fretwork and round arch patterns. This elaborate decoration is one of the rare surviving details from the medieval interior.
