Aberlour House, Category A listed country house in Aberlour, Scotland.
Aberlour House is a country mansion in Aberlour, Scotland, featuring a north-facing front entrance with Doric columns and a sheltered carriage area. Inside, it contains a grand staircase with ionic details, wood-lined rooms, and marble fixtures throughout.
The house was built in 1838 for a merchant who had returned from Jamaica, designed by architect William Robertson. It later became headquarters for a Scottish military division before being restored starting in 2006.
The interior displays a grand stair hall with an ionic cantilevered staircase, while the wood-paneled library contains marble fireplaces and religious artwork.
Enter through the main front entrance under the columns, and be prepared for uneven ground around the exterior. The interior stairs and multiple room levels may require care while walking.
A stone column in the grounds displays a heraldic unicorn symbolizing the Findlay family, who purchased the house from Margaret Macpherson Grant. This heraldic symbol remains visible today and marks an important change in ownership.
