Barden Tower, Medieval fortified house in Barden, England
The stone structure stands three stories high with thick defensive walls and contains large ground-level windows displaying interior architectural elements.
Henry Clifford constructed Barden Tower between 1485 and 1490 to replace an earlier hunting lodge, establishing it as one of six forest lodges.
The upper dining room served as an astronomical observation point, known locally as the Stargazers Room during the residence of Henry Clifford.
Located between Bolton Bridge and Burnsall village, each approximately 4 miles away, the tower remains accessible through marked walking paths.
The structure features a worn stone plaque above its entrance documenting Lady Anne Clifford's restoration efforts following the tower's deterioration in 1589.
