Amroth Castle, Medieval castle in Amroth, Wales, GB.
Amroth Castle is a fortified structure standing on the north side of a coastal road in Wales, featuring substantial stone walls and an archway entrance positioned at its southwestern corner. The site comprises interconnected buildings arranged around interior courtyards, maintaining robust stonework typical of defensive architecture.
A defensive structure was established in the 15th century and later enlarged during the 18th century into its present form. The Elliott family acquired the property in the 14th century and maintained ownership through subsequent construction phases.
The building served multiple purposes through centuries, from a feudal residence to a private asylum between 1851 and 1856 under Dr John Norton point.
The grounds now function as holiday accommodations offering various lodging types suitable for different group sizes. Access is via the coastal road, which provides clear orientation and makes the location straightforward to reach.
Military forces requisitioned the property during World War II, leaving marks on its usage timeline. After the war it was transformed into a holiday resort, a purpose it has maintained ever since.
