Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Adventure park and zoo in Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom
Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is a large site featuring over 750 animals representing around 200 different species, with animals organized across various themed sections. An indoor vintage funfair and multiple adventure playgrounds are spread throughout the grounds for additional activities.
The site originated as a working dairy farm before transforming into a tourist destination in 1988, when the Williams family noticed visitors stopping to watch their livestock. This unplanned discovery led to the development of the current animal and entertainment facility.
The park participates in breeding programs for endangered species, particularly focusing on the eastern black rhinoceros through its Kifaru Reserve section. Visitors witness daily care routines that demonstrate the ongoing work to protect these animals.
The site provides free parking and is accessible for people with mobility needs, with baby facilities and restaurants available throughout. It helps to arrive early, as the grounds are extensive and there are many areas to explore.
A section called Penguin Coast features both Humboldt and Macaroni penguins in a saltwater enclosure designed specifically for these seabirds. This habitat is notable because it houses two penguin species together, which is relatively uncommon to see in one place.
