Queen's Arms, Cowden Pound

Queen's Arms is a Grade II listed pub in Cowden featuring red brick construction with dark brick patterns and a Welsh slate roof. The building preserves its original mid-19th century floor plan with a central entrance and bars on both sides.

The pub has been run by the same family since 1913 and received Grade II listed status in 1999. This long family ownership shaped it into a place of stable continuity within the community.

The two traditional bars inside preserve original features including a diagonal L-shaped counter and vintage beer engines, reflecting the crafted beer culture of the era. Visitors can experience classic pub culture through these preserved elements.

The establishment sits on Stick Hill in Edenbridge and is easily accessible. Visitors should know it retains original furnishings and maintains the character of a traditional, older location.

For many years, a hand-painted sign declaring 'Lager not sold here' hung above the entrance. This sign was a bold statement of the pub's commitment to traditional ale and its resistance to modern beer trends.
