Ingliston Racing Circuit, motor racing circuit in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
Ingliston Racing Circuit is a racing track near Edinburgh that spans about a mile in length and features twelve turns. The track has a smooth asphalt surface with clearly marked lanes and safety barriers along the sides, set in an open space where trees and buildings run close to the circuit.
The track opened in 1965 on land previously used as an agricultural showground and quickly became known as one of Scotland's top motorsport venues. After an expansion in 1968 and decades of racing events, the circuit closed formally in 1995, though portions of the original course remain and are occasionally used for driving experiences today.
The circuit served as a gathering place for racing fans and drivers from across Scotland for many years. Today, the remaining track still draws people who want to experience a piece of this historic racing venue and remember its role in the region's motorsport heritage.
The venue is easily accessible by public transport including the Airlink Express bus from the airport, local buses, and the Edinburgh tram system, all of which stop nearby. Free parking is available on site, and entrances are clearly signposted with short walks from the nearest transport stops.
During a 50th anniversary celebration in 2015, the original track was reconstructed for a special event where over 11,000 people came to watch classic racing cars driven on the historic course. This revival demonstrated how deeply the venue remains embedded in the hearts of motorsport enthusiasts.
