Foxcote Reservoir and Wood extends across 48.3 hectares, featuring a water body surrounded by mature woodland and diverse meadow areas.
The site transformation began in 1956 when engineers constructed a dam on a tributary of the River Great Ouse to create the reservoir.
The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust manages 34 hectares of the land to maintain its ecological balance and biodiversity.
Visitors can access marked trails around the reservoir and woodland areas while observing various bird species throughout different seasons.
The site hosts specific plant species including the greater butterfly orchid and Paris quadrifolia, contributing to its scientific designation.
