Blagdon, Paignton, Manor estate in Paignton, England.
Lower Blagdon Manor is a Georgian-era manor house with Grade II Listed status, located in a small hamlet between the South Devon moors and the sea. The building retains its original character with classical architectural features from the 18th century.
The Kirkham family controlled the estate from the 13th to the 17th century, and Sir John Kirkham achieved the position of Sheriff of Devon in the early 16th century. This long period of ownership shaped the region's history and made the family a prominent force in South Devon.
The Kirkham family left a lasting mark on this area, and their names are still visible in the nearby St John's Church today. You can see their elaborate 17th-century tombs and an ornate late medieval stone screen when you visit.
The property sits about two miles west of Paignton town center and is accessible via the A385 road, making it easy to reach by car. From here, sandy beaches and the fishing harbor of Brixham are only a few miles away and can be reached in a short drive.
The estate has remained under the ownership of the same family for approximately 400 years and has been used throughout this period for weddings and private events. This extraordinary continuity is rare and shows how country estates function as family centers.
