Raikes Farmhouse, Grade II listed farmhouse in Thornton-Cleveleys, England.
Raikes Farmhouse is a protected Grade II listed farmhouse in Thornton-Cleveleys built from sandstone with original architectural details from the late 17th century. The building sits at the junction of Raikes Road and displays distinctive features characteristic of its period.
The building was constructed in 1692, replacing an earlier structure from 1595. A sandstone tablet with initials B.T.S. on the right gable marks this phase of its development.
The farmhouse displays rural building methods typical of Lancashire, maintaining local craftsmanship in its details. Visitors can see how historical farms in this region were constructed and preserved over time.
The building is publicly accessible and easy to find at the Raikes Road junction. Following restoration work between 2011 and 2019, its original exterior features have been brought back to their original condition.
The property once housed the body of an 1890 Victorian railway carriage from the Lancashire and Yorkshire line. The Poulton & Wyre Railway Society removed and preserved this rare piece of local rail history in 2023.
