The Illawalla, Edwardian mansion in Skippool, Lancashire, England
The Illawalla featured Yorkshire stone dressings, red-tiled roofs, and detailed interior designs including a plaster frieze showing wading birds from the region.
Constructed in 1902 as the largest bungalow in Europe, the building served multiple functions during World War II, including a transit camp and housing for pregnant evacuees.
The foundation stone of the mansion was laid by Vesta Tilley on June 12, 1902, while she performed at the Blackpool Alhambra Theatre.
The mansion contained numerous reception rooms, bedrooms, a billiard room, and a tower, with an entrance hall opening into a large dining room.
The building appeared in the 1977 film Valentino before becoming a nightclub, and was finally demolished in 1996 to make way for three houses.
