Skeldale House

Skeldale House is a stone building located on Market Place in Askrigg, England, featuring classic 19th-century details including original railings and solid masonry construction. Today the building contains seven modern holiday apartments, each furnished with roll-top baths, contemporary kitchen appliances, and televisions.

The building was originally constructed in 1840 as a private residence and later served as a care facility before being converted into holiday accommodations. These transformations show how the structure adapted to meet the changing needs of the community over time.

The building served as the exterior setting for the veterinary practice in the television series All Creatures Great and Small, bringing the fictional Darrowby to life on screen. Visitors often recognize the facade from scenes they remember watching.

The apartments are accessed via the main entrance on Market Place and are well signposted from the town center. Visitors can view the building from the street and easily explore the surrounding area on foot.
