Laumeier Sculpture Park

Laumeier Sculpture Park is a large park featuring over 70 outdoor sculptures positioned along trails through meadows and wooded areas. The Aronson Art Center, housed in a historic mansion, functions as the venue for exhibitions and educational programs.

The land originally came from Spanish and French territorial grants in the 1800s until Henry Laumeier purchased it in 1940. Following his death, his wife donated the property to St. Louis County to create this public space.

The sculptures represent works by established and contemporary artists, shaping how people engage with art outdoors. Walking among these pieces, visitors experience how contemporary creation integrates with natural surroundings.

The grounds are open daily for visitors to explore on foot, with pathways suitable for walking at a moderate pace. Restroom facilities and shaded areas provide comfort during longer visits.

'The Way' is a 65-foot red steel sculpture made from repurposed oil tanks that serves as the park's visual centerpiece. This unconventional use of industrial materials creates a striking landmark when approaching the site.
