Ryan Field, Football stadium at Northwestern University, Evanston, US
Ryan Field is a football stadium on Northwestern University's campus in Evanston with seating for approximately 47,000 spectators. The two semi-circular grandstands are designed to position fans very close to the playing field, creating an immersive experience during games.
The stadium opened in 1926 as Dyche Stadium before being renamed in 1997 following major support from the Ryan family. This change reflected a new chapter in the venue's long history at the university.
This stadium serves as the gathering place for Wildcats football games, drawing students, alumni, and community members who come to cheer together. These events are woven into the campus social fabric and connect generations through shared sporting traditions.
The stadium is located on Northwestern University's campus and is easily accessible by public transportation. Multiple parking facilities serve game attendees, making it straightforward to plan your visit for matchday.
Until 2023, this was the only Football Bowl Subdivision stadium in the United States without permanent field lighting. This distinction gave the venue a rare, old-fashioned character among modern sports facilities.
