Buttonwoods Museum, Historical museum in Haverhill, Massachusetts, United States

The Buttonwoods Museum complex contains three historical buildings: the John Ward House, Duncan House, and Daniel Hunkins Shoe Shop, each representing different aspects of local heritage.

Founded in January 1898, the Haverhill Historical Society established this museum to preserve and showcase artifacts from the region's evolution from Native American settlements to industrial development.

The museum collections include Native American artifacts, historical photographs, documents, and extensive displays about the local shoe manufacturing industry that shaped Haverhill's identity.

The museum operates seasonally, remaining closed for tours between November 1st and April 30th, while maintaining virtual programs through their #MuseumFromHome digital platform.

The Daniel Hunkins Shoe Shop section of the museum preserves machinery and tools that document Massachusetts shoe production methods from previous centuries.
