Camden State Park, State park in Lyon County, United States.
Camden State Park sits along the Redwood River where steep valleys are filled with thick woodland covering the banks. The park spreads across terrain with varied elevation and different natural habitats that visitors can explore.
A trading post founded in the 1830s by Joseph LaFramboise was one of the earliest European settlement points in this area. The village of Jones Mill later developed at this location and was abandoned in the 1930s as economic activities declined.
The park preserves remnants of Jones Mill, a former village settlement, showing visitors how people lived in this area long ago. The Sioux Lookout observation point remains a landmark that people visit to connect with the landscape.
The area offers two campgrounds with about 80 sites total and multiple paths for exploring, including trails for hiking and mountain biking. Visitors should allow time to discover the different landscapes and viewpoints, especially the views over lakes and valleys.
The park holds one of the few sources of information about Dakota culture in this part of Minnesota. Interpretive paths teach about grassland ecosystems and their significance to the history of this region.
